The Consumer Protection Zone (CPZ) at ICE 2024 has once again demonstrated its commitment to responsible gambling by raising a substantial amount of £41,100 ($51,800), which will be donated to two charities: the International Centre for Responsible Gambling (ICRG) and Betblocker. This recent contribution brings the total raised by CPZ to over £225,000 ($283,600) over the last four years.
At a donation ceremony held at the CPZ, representatives from ICRG and Betblocker each received cheques amounting to £20,500 ($25,850) from seven industry-leading companies including Light and Wonder, Flutter, Betsson Group, IGT, Novomatic, Neccton, and Playtech. These generous donations aim to combat some of the negative societal impacts of gambling, demonstrating a commitment to a safe and sustainable gaming market.
ICRG president Arthur Paikowsky expressed gratitude for the contributions, emphasizing the invaluable impact the funds will have on the organization’s ongoing gambling-related studies. The funds will support 27 studies aimed at better treatment and prevention of gambling addiction, benefitting consumers and stakeholders alike.
Betblocker founder and trustee Duncan Garvie also expressed surprise and gratitude for the charitable donation, noting the significant impact it will have on the development of the organization’s upcoming timer feature. He also highlighted the increased exposure the charity received during ICE as a boon that will help expand its reach.
The ICE 2024 exhibition bid farewell to London in style as it marked its final gathering in the city before relocating to Barcelona in 2025. With 811 exhibitors filling the ExCeL venue, ICE 2024 demonstrated the gaming industry’s commitment to providing value, innovation, and connections.
Clarion Gaming’s director of industry insight and engagement, Ewa Bakun, emphasized the importance of the CPZ in promoting the industry’s commitment to supporting player protection initiatives. With record-breaking numbers of exhibitors and a commitment to excellence, ICE 2024 in London has set the stage for its continued success while aligning with the industry’s ongoing commitment to responsible gambling practices and sustainable growth.
