Kindred Group, a leading online gambling operator, has announced the appointment of Nils Andén as the company’s permanent chief executive officer. Andén has been serving as the interim CEO for almost a year, taking on the role after Henrik Tjärnström’s departure from the company in May 2023.
Andén is a long-time Kindred executive, having previously served in senior-level roles from 2006 through 2016, including as the chief marketing officer of Kindred’s flagship Unibet brand. After temporarily leaving the company in 2016, Andén rejoined Kindred in 2020 as chief commercial officer for Scandinavia, East and South Europe, and North America.
Evert Carlsson, the chairman of Kindred Group, expressed the board’s pleasure in Andén’s willingness to take on the CEO role, stating that Andén’s experience and leadership qualities make him a perfect fit for the position. Carlsson praised Andén’s exceptional job as interim chief executive and highlighted his vast knowledge of both Kindred and the iGaming industry.
Andén also expressed his gratitude for the board’s trust in him, stating that he is proud to continue in the role as CEO of Kindred Group and is looking forward to executing the company’s ambitious business plans. He emphasized the importance of the team’s work in delivering on an exciting strategy that aims to strengthen Kindred’s position in locally regulated markets.
In addition to the leadership appointment, Kindred shared an update on its Journey towards Zero initiative, which aims to minimize the revenues the operator takes from harmful gambling. The update revealed that only 3.1% of the company’s revenue came from problem gambling, demonstrating the effectiveness of the campaign.
Andén’s appointment as CEO marks a new chapter for Kindred Group, as the company continues to focus on responsible gambling practices while pursuing strategic growth in the online gambling industry.
