The latest gaming revenue results for December 2023 in New Jersey have been released by the Division of Gaming Enforcement, showing a total year-to-date revenue of nearly $5.8 billion from the state’s gambling operators.

Casino hotel properties in New Jersey saw an increase in revenue, earning $232.4 million for December 2023, reflecting a 7.8% year-on-year growth. The year-to-date casino win for the state’s nine casinos also experienced growth, reaching $2.85 billion, a 2.2% increase from the previous year.

The online casino segment also reported an increase in revenue, with New Jersey’s casinos and their online partners generating an internet gaming win of $180.3 million in December 2023, a 19.1% year-on-year growth. The year-to-date internet gaming win amounted to $1.92 billion, marking a significant 15.7% increase from the prior year-to-date period.

The sports betting segment experienced the most significant revenue increase, recording a revenue of $109.4 million for December 2023, a 24.8% increase from the previous year. The year-to-date period showed a 31.9% increase in revenue, reaching $1.01 billion.

Overall, all verticals in New Jersey’s gaming industry experienced growth, with a total gaming revenue of $522.2 million for December 2023, reflecting a 14.8% increase from the previous year. The year-to-date total gaming revenue for the state stood at $5.78 billion, representing a 10.9% increase from the prior year.

As the state moves into 2024, casino workers in New Jersey continue to advocate for a healthier work environment, particularly pushing for a smoking ban in casinos. Senator Joe Vitale has introduced a bill, Senate Bill 1493, with the support of 18 out of 40 senators, aiming to address the loophole that exempts casinos from the Smoke-Free Air Act. Supporters hope to make a breakthrough on this issue in the upcoming year.
