Scientific Games is once again showing its dedication to responsible gaming education by supporting the National Council on Problem Gambling’s annual Gift Responsibly campaign. This marks the sixth holiday season that the digital games, technology, and analytics company has promoted this initiative.

The campaign aims to discourage the gifting of lottery cards to minors during the holiday season, with the belief that such gifts can contribute to gambling harm. Exposing children to gambling content at a young age could normalize the activity and associate it with celebration.

Scientific Games takes pride in its commitment to responsible gambling. Its Healthy Play program offers science-based tools and practices that lottery operators can utilize to safeguard their players and prevent minors from participating in games of chance. The program was recently honored with a 2023 Communitas Award for Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility.

Furthermore, the company’s Responsible Gaming Study and toolkit provides valuable insights into the sector, promoting lottery literacy and encouraging responsible play. Scientific Games is also one of the first lottery providers to receive global certification as a Responsible Gaming Supplier from the World Lottery Association.

Keith Whyte, executive director of the National Council on Problem Gambling, commended Scientific Games for its support of the Gift Responsibly campaign, emphasizing the importance of reducing youth problem gambling and reiterating that minors should not be playing the lottery, especially during the holidays.

Carla Schaefer, Scientific Games’ vice president of responsible gaming, echoed this sentiment, stating that the initiative aligns with the company’s goal of preventing youth problem gambling and promoting responsible lottery participation.

In addition to its efforts to promote responsible gaming, Scientific Games recently announced its plans to increase investment in its iLottery Content Hub and released a Monopoly-inspired lottery game.

Overall, Scientific Games continues to prioritize responsible gaming education and support initiatives aimed at protecting minors from the potential harms of gambling.
